This is a handmade Chinese accent decorative statue of Zen master Damo from natural raw wood with an irregular shape.

Damo is the Chinese name for the Buddhist monk Bodhidharma. Bodhidharma is credited with establishing the Zen branch of Mahayana Buddhism. He is also known as Putidamo in Chinese and Daruma in Japanese.

Bodhidharma is believed to have lived in the 5th or 6th century CE. He is thought to have traveled from India to China. He is considered the first Chinese patriarch of Buddhism. He is also known as the father of Shaolin Kung Fu.

Bodhidharma is described as a wise and compassionate monk in early records. He is said to have cut off his eyelids because he felt sleepy during meditation.
